The seventh edition of Devoxx4kids Lugano kicks off

DEVOXX4KIDS LUGANO – By popular demand, the seventh edition of Devoxx4kids Lugano is back, a day dedicated to technology scheduled for October 8 from 8:30 to 17:30 at USI in Via Buffi,13. This is an initiative promoted by the association ated-ICT Ticino in its ated4kids section, which will feature girls and boys aged 11 to 15, who will be able to experiment in the form of workshops innovation and frontier technologies.

Devoxx4kids Lugano offers a broad vision of available technologies, stimulates curiosity, ignites the passion for innovation. The goal is to involve girls and boys in robotics and programming workshops, so that they can then deepen the themes that most interest privately, in courses or after school, organized by ated4kids with the main schools of Ticino.

“At the heart of the Devoxx4kids Lugano day will be a rich program of one-hour meetings, ranging from issues related to cybersecurity, with a particular focus on the prevention and safe management of your digital presence. But there will be room to learn and build and program a robot with Lego Mindstorm, to play and compete in the drafting of a code, to learn how to manage an educational robot like Thymio together with the Mobsya association and the prestigious EPFL.

You can also try a special project, called Angelo, which involves the construction of a device to give to their elderly to help them amplify the sounds. The 2022 edition of Devoxx4kids Lugano is also enriched by the collaboration with WETUBE, the open space of RSI dedicated to young creative Swiss Italian, to realize a workshop where you will learn the basic techniques to realize, record and edit a video reportage.Devoxx4kids Lugano is also an opportunity to include the female world in the active use of technology.

We believe, in fact, that for girls STEM subjects offer great opportunities to express their potential and their passions. The world of technology is not very “Woman Friendly”, but it is our mission to promote and make girls understand through days like Devoxx4kids Lugano can achieve goals of great excellence, studying and refining skills of which they may not yet know the existence”.

Fundamental for the success of the event will be the adhesion and financial support of the sponsors. In fact, the Devoxx4kids Lugano Day, as provided for in the international format, must be accessible to all free of charge.

“Among other things, ated-ICT Ticino in its dedicated ated4kids section and all the people/mentors who organize Devoxx4kids Lugano are committed to working voluntarily.  It would be nice to be able to count on the support of companies and organizations in the area to devise new workshops, promote relationships, networking and better organize all the meetings scheduled. Also because, although there are several weeks to the appointment, we already have many girls and boys enrolled in the initiative. The agenda and the program are not yet complete, but the information on the website www.ated.ch are updated as soon as a new workshop is confirmed” – concludes Cristina Giotto.
