Discovering AWS: The new AWS Region will be based in Zurich

AWS NEW EUROPE REGION – By the end of 2022, AWS will open a new region in Zurich that will offer more than 200 advanced cloud services and sub-services. The new AWS Europe Region (Zurich) offers advanced cloud technologies that enable opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation. Developers, startups and businesses, as well as public administration bodies, educational institutions and non-profit organizations can take advantage of the new AWS Europe Region (Zurich) to run applications and serve its users across Switzerland with lower latency while maintaining full ownership and control over content hosted on Swiss territory.

“Discovering AWS”, the information event about the new Europe Region

Claranet Switzerland in collaboration with Ated ICT Ticino has launched an event called “Discovering AWS” to try to explore together with participants better how the new AWS Europe Region (Zurich) works. In particular we will try to understand:

how to use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to improve business processes
how to use the Cloud to improve the reliability and scalability of your applications and optimize costs
how to benefit from AWS security and compliance services.

The event will be held on Wednesday, August 30 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Department of Innovative Technologies of Supsi (room B1.16 of the University Campus Lugano, Campus Est Via la Santa 1 6969 Viganello ). Interview with Daniele Madama, speaker of “Alla Scoperta di AWS”

Waiting for “Discovering AWS”, to understand what are the advantages of adopting the AWS cloud, what are the Swiss companies that already implement these services and which recipients can benefit from this ecosystem we interviewed Daniele Madama, Managing Director of the Swiss headquarters of Claranet, Amazon Authorized Instructor, and speaker of the information event. These are his words.

The advanced cloud technologies that will be offered what added value can they give to the territory?

“The opening of AWS data centers in Switzerland may certainly give an advantage in keeping data on the national territory, but users have had access to AWS global services for almost 20 years and have been able to experience their evolution, Which is a long way from stopping.

This approach leads to continuous innovation, offering users of new services or reducing the costs of existing ones. We can safely say that, starting the company towards a cloud adoption, the most important advantages are a cost reduction and a modernization of the infrastructure increasing the monitoring and control, as well as increased security and protection of sensitive internal data or its users.”
